A Study On The Kymlicka’s Theory Of Minority Rights Protection In The Nation-state Building

Multi-ethnic state construction refers to the integration of nations through a series of policies and measures in a multi-cultural country,and to achieve the goal of national integration within the country.Most countries in the world have the problem of how to building a multi-ethnic state in an egalitarian way in the context of multiculturalism.The western scholars put forward the idea of multiculturalism,and advocated to deal with the relationship between the country and the ethnic group with the idea of respecting ethic differences.Multiculturalism emphasizes the diversity and equality of ethnic groups.There are cultural differences between different ethnic groups,and this difference gives people different cultural citizenship.The state in order to complete the multi-ethnic country should face up to the differences and allow citizens to be integrated into the public system of a language by acknowledging the cultural citizenship of the difference.In the process of building a multi-ethnic country,national measures taken are generally against minorities,and minority groups in the process of building multi-national country facing the core issue is whether countries treat them honestly.The starting point of the Will Kymlicka’s theory of multi-ethnic state construction is to start from the dialectical relationship between nation-state construction and minority rights.From the perspective of cultural membership theory,Will Kymlicka proposed that minorities should be given minority rights to protect the equal status of ethnic groups and he also discusses the legitimacy of minority rights.He thinks that by giving the rights of minority groups difference political measures such as special representative,autonomy,and the federal system,can coordinate multi-ethnic country internal conflicts between various groups and satisfy the appeal of minority group and to promote to national identity and to achieve the goal of building a unified multi-ethnic state with a high degree of national identity.In western countries,Canada is the first adopted a policy of multiculturalism in the country.The Canadian scholar Will Kymlicka based on the reality of Canada that put forward the theory of minority rights has a wide influence.Through the practice of nation-building in Canada,we can see the positive role of multiculturalism in maintaining national unity,political stability and promoting ethnic integration.From the perspective of marxist state theory and ethnic theory,Will Kymlicka’s theory is important in limiting the rights of most people in society and protecting minority rights.But at the same time,its theory also has limitations and problems.We should treat the minority theory correctly and learn from the available part of it.
