Study On The Survival Status And Social Workers’ Intervention Strategy Of Environmental Sanitation Workers In Beijing

The research investigates the living status-quo of sanitation workers in Beijing via the methods of questionnaires and structural interviews.The results show that the sanitation workers in Beijing are confronted with the serious problems—poor living conditions,hazardous working,lack of spiritual comfort and low degree of urban access in their living status-quo.And meanwhile,there is existing high risk of work,long working hours,low salary and lack of social identity in their working conditions.And there are still some severe problems haunting the sanitation workers,e.g.backward policy,not updating timely,not being put into place and shortage of official welfare system.But with the present welfare policies,Beijing has furthered and implemented the approaches of variety to the care of sanitation workers,especially in the recent two years,and the ACFTU has provided effective services to sanitation workers by "purchasing social-organization services".In order to solve the problems existing in sanitation workers’ life,work and welfare polices and better their living condition,the research combines the professional social work technology and philosophy,and explores the need,feasibility and strategy of the improvement of social work in the environmental sanitation workers.And in the meantime,with the reference to the existing social organizations’ providing services for the sanitation workers,the research analyzes the effects of the organizations.The results show that the government,by purchasing social organizations’ services,for one thing,improves the professional care-aiding level to the sanitation workers in order that the sanitation workers get more professional help;for another,alters the existing care-aiding ways in order that the aid to the sanitation workers will be more humane.The research lays a solid foundation for the future research on how care-aiding ways will work to sanitation workers.
