The Legal Countermeasures Research Regarding The Petroleum And Natural Gas Resources Exploration In The South China Sea Disputed Area

In July 2016,the release of the South China Sea arbitration award had led the South China Sea disputes reach its pick.The sovereignty issues in this area have been the key concerned by the Chinese government for many years due to neighboring States’provocative act.In fact,the story behind the sovereignty dispute relates to the petroleum and natural gas resources in the South China Sea area where the neighboring States are coveting.Thus,the essence of South China Sea dispute is actually about the resources dispute.In that case,the dilemma regarding the petroleum and natural gas resources exploration in the South China Sea disputed area is mainly the following:Firstly,how to deal with the individual act of other States.Secondly,how to conduct "joint development"to the actual effect.Based on the analysis of the cause of the South China Sea disputes,this article will discuss the potential legal problems that encountered when China exploring petroleum and natural gas resources in the South China Sea disputed area.This paper believes that it’s necessary to conduct temporary exploration actively,strengthen the law enforcement in disputed sea area,as well as expand cooperation field to establish the cooperation mechanism.
