A Study On E-C Translation Of Lexicons In Securities Contracts

This paper is a translation practice report based on two securities contracts.Firstly,it analyzes the source text from the language and lexical features of Chinese and English contracts,which are characterized by strict semantics,solemn style and precise wording.Secondly,through the case study of securities contracts,this paper focuses on the classification and analysis of the lexical difficulties in the process of English-Chinese translation,and puts forward corresponding strategies.On the basis of striving for accurate translation,the author hopes to achieve the purpose that conforms to both the Chinese expression and the characteristics of legal language texts.The lexical difficulties elaborated in this report mainly include the following categories: polysemous lexicons,that is,specialization of common words;archaic words;time qualifiers;modal verbs as well as combining synonyms.Through the analysis of lexical difficulties,corresponding solutions are proposed,and translation strategies such as “amplification”,“omission” and “conversion” are applied to solve the difficulties encountered in the translation practice.
