| Interpersonal skills refer to the ability of individuals with communicative intentions to show proactive communicative behaviors in social situations and to give appropriate feedback according to social situations to make interpersonal relationships in a harmonious state.Interpersonal communication ability will affect the quality of communication activities.Bad interpersonal communication will have direct or indirect negative consequences on the individual’s adaptation to the social environment and hinder the individual’s growth and development.The left-behind college students’ interpersonal problem has been an important part of many psychological problems of college students.Personality traits will affect interpersonal communication skills.In addition to having a direct impact on interpersonal communication skills,personality traits may also have an indirect impact on interpersonal communication skills by forming multiple intermediary chains with emotional regulation and empathy.This study aims to explore this special group of college students with left-behind experience of personality of interpersonal skills and its internal mechanism,with the China’s Big Five Personality Questionnaire Short Version,the Interpersonal Skills Questionnaire,Emotion Regulation Questionnaire,and the Chinese Version of Human Reaction Index Questionnaire used,choosing 507 left-behind college students from three universities in Gansu province.The results shows that: the left-behind college students’ neuroticism scores significantly negative predict their interpersonal skills,while those college students’ conscientiousness,agreeableness,and openness,extroversion scores are significantly positively predict for the interpersonal skills;Cognitive reappraisal plays a part in mediating between the five personality traits and interpersonal skills of college students who experienced behind;Empathy plays a part in mediating between the conscientiousness,openness,neuroticism,agreeableness and interpersonal skills of college students who experienced behind.Cognitive reappraisal and empathy play multiple mediating roles in the conscientiousness,agreeableness,neuroticism,openness and interpersonal skills of college students who stay behind.The results show that emotional regulation and empathy play a chain mediating role between personality traits and interpersonal communication ability of left-behind college students. |
