Liu Xie's Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature is a literary book of high theoretical value.The creation and application of its theoretical categories have been paid much attention by scholars,and it is an important part of Chinese literary theory.On the basis of summarizing the practical experience of literary creation and literary criticism,liu xie's literary mind constructs a lot of theoretical categories.One of the categories is "Qi".The connotation of "Qi" is rich,involving the principles and aesthetic standards of literary creation,literary style,creative conception,aesthetic psychology,subject matter and language expression.Liu xie also elevated the category of "Qi" to the level of literary essence and literary development.The literary characteristic theory of "Qi" and "Li",the literary development thinking and the embodied methodology reflect the self-consciousness of the literary conscious era theory.It also have a strong practical guiding significance.The paper consists of four chapters:Chapter one starts from the meaning of "Qi",analyzes its different cultural connotations in Confucianism and Taoism,as well as its formation and evolution as a category.Chapter two analyzes analyzes the "Qi" as the practical source of the theoretical category in Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature.Chapter three analyzes the aesthetic connotation of the category of "Qi".Chapter four discusses the theoretical construction of the "Qi" category in Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature from the two aspects of "Qi" and "Li" with the essential characteristics of literature,"Qizheng" with "Eclectic" methodology of Liu xie.Liu xie put forward the literary creation principle of "holding Zheng to control the Qi",the literary creation pursuit of "considering the Qi but not losing its Zheng",the literary development concept of "considering the present to make the Qi,referring to the ancient times to determine the method" and the literary criticism method of "although the Qi and Zheng is opposite,must be both understanding".
