From the perspective of linguistics, the study of Wen Xin Diao Long’s term is an important part of the middle ancient time Chinese vocabulary research. Its’rhymed language has functions of both object-language and meta-language, it is valuable in aesthetic and cognitive aspects; The "aphasia" in Chinese literary theory caused by copying the west was actually not aphasia for real, its’literary theory discourse system had lost in forcing itself to adapt to the West. To rebuild a unique discourse system of Chinese literary theory, we must start from the ontology and works. Hence the study of Wen Xin Diao Long’s term is the key of getting a breakthrough in ancient Chinese literary theory research.The purpose of the paper is to explain Wen Xin Diao Long’s term systematically, and attempt to integrate Cognitive linguistics theory and classical Chinese works by combining the traditional exegetics and conceptual metaphor, frame semantics, image schema in modern semantics and cognitive linguistics.There are difficulties in the paper, firstly, Wen Xin Diao Long itself is extensive, intricate and systematical; secondly, the definition of terms is inconsistent because of polysemy and Liu Xie’s new words; finally, although cognitive linguistics is very popular in Europe, especially enthusiasm for cognitive metaphor in the1970s last century, the domestic research in cognitive linguistics is lagging behind and difficult to use the European’s for reference.There are also three aspects of innovation in the paper. First is the combination of origin traceability and internal verification; second is the combination of macro and micro:analyze with cognitive metaphor and semantic field theory in Liu Xie’s literary thoughts and Philosophical system, restore cultural context of terms by looking into symbol level of semantic; the third is multiple integrated disciplines:research Wen Xin Diao Long’s term by using the method of traditional literature and cognitive linguistics.The paper integrated lexicology, cognitive semantics and cognitive metaphor. Started from the work, it classified Wen Xin Diao Long’s terms systematically through presenting its’macroscopic structure. Then counted and analyzed the specific terms consist in dictions to analyze Wen Xin Diao Long’s terms more objectively and authentically. Besides the epilogue, the paper includes five chapters and general content is as follows:Chapter I is the introduction, mainly introduced object of study, the current research status, purpose of writing, main points and innovation points, and briefly described cognitive linguistics theories the paper involved.Chapter II researched the core cognitive object and main part of Wen Xin Diao Long---Wen. Part one explicated its macro metaphor, which reflected philosophical cognitive structure in Wen YuanLun. The structure includes three basic elements:Dao, Sheng, and Wen. The second part presented traditional usage of the word "wen" and development of connotation, summed up the main connotation of the word "wen"in Wen Xin Diao Long. The original meaning of "wen" was "carving patterns", then extended to many different meanings. There are500"wen" in Wen Xin Diao Long, including the meanings from the souds and looks of everything in general to the pattern in pure. But its cognitive features, or cognitive similarities which got a metaphor were kept from beginning to end. Its core sememe is [interleaving]+[portray]+[pattern]. Pattern is the common and core cognitive feature of "wen" from "characters" to articles. So Wen Xin Diao Long is a great work of aesthetic, since the nature of "wen" itself gets a aesthetic prescriptive."Wen" means interweaving characters with dictions to form a article. Its purpose is to describe appearances."Dao" is beginning of philosophical cognitive; it is also source of article. For this reason,"wen" in Wen Xin Diao Long cann’t leave the basic point "feeling the dao" all the way. The third part used family Resemblance and prototype theory. As prototype of subject and work,"sheng" and "jing" have both the two categories’most idealized features. This part summed features as the prototype based on analysis of "sheng" and "jing". The discussion of "wen" and "bi" combined analyzation of two-word-meaning and styles in "Wen(style)".Chapter III analyzed three elements in article writing, which are feeling of subjective, things of objective and literature image. The chapter was divided into three parts under the three categories."sentiment is essence", sentiment starts from the author and reflects in article. So it can be divided into the author’s and the article’s, but two of them are inseparable. The central point of Wen Xin Diao Long was transformation of sentiment from the author’s to the article’s. The changes of author’s sentiments are affected by his/her will,"Tixing", talent and knowledge."Nature" decides "sentiment" and "sentiment" reflects "nature"."Talent" is inherited and can be acquired by learning, and then internalized to be important factor that affect the "sentiment". The second part aimed at objective content category. Cognitive linguistics focuses on subjective cognitive activity, it pays more attention to the interaction between subject and objective world. It coincides with ancient Chinese philosophy. Feelings change because of the outside world and the outside world influence people’s subjective perception all the time. The third part discussed image。Chapter Ⅳanalyzed "Feng Gu","Ti Shi" and "Fu, Bi, Xing"."Feng" developed from natural form with metaphor of decency to style of writing, but its two original cognitive points which were "Bo Si" and "Wu Xing Er Zhi" didn’t change."Feng""Wu Xing Er Zhi" but affects object, it includes two meanings:one is blowing of physical property, the other is political civilization affected on people. So the term "Feng" in literary theory was always conform to Confucian moralization first, then inspire emotions, which is "create for emotions" explained in Qing Cai."Qi" has the differences of limpidly and turbidity, so do the "Feng"."Feng Li", which makes the article full of emotions, also means the strength of emotions in the article."Gu" is "diction", it can be summed up in three aspects:point, line and surface."Point" refers to foresight of the article,"line" refers to well organized trunk and "surface" refers to plain of the article, three of them integrate and form the strength of article. For "Ti Shi","Ti" metaphors system by body and includes style, shape and structure in Wen Xin Diao Long (even contains writing techniques)."Shi" also includes form, posture, tendency and so on."Ti" decides "Shi". The key is to select system in accordance with the contents and to form "Shi" on the basis of system."Li Ti" needs to determine the purpose and choose styles. Only after all of these, can form "Shi" on the basis of system, and style is the final result. Part three discussed the creative process on basic of the first three chapters. First studied "Shen Si" from artistic conception theory and then "Fu","Bi","Xing". Took the meaning of "Fu","Bi" and "Xing" in the traditional literary theory for reference, and compared cognitive metaphor, metonymy with Bi Xing.Chapter V is a few metaphor system of creation, and the most important part is the human body metaphor system in Fu Hui. Liu Xie propose that article should take "sentiment as essence, meaning as marrow, literary grace as skin, Gong Shang as breath and voice". These metaphors are exist in the whole work. The paper analyzed "sentiment","essence","meaning","marrow","literary grace" individually, and the reason of resemblance between two of them. This chapter also discussed several other terms of creation theory like "Rong Cai","Yin Kuo"and so on. The words present diction, but the meanings and of content of article are abstract. Liu Xie presented us through ontological metaphor vividly, which is the most important type of cognition.Chapter VI studied terms of style theory, including "Qi Zheng","Hua Shi","Yin Xiu","Yuan Tong", etc.. Besides "Yuan Tong", these terms appear in relative significance but not Absolute opposite. Instead, what Wen Xin Diao Long discussed is how to seek reconciliation between them so as to make the article be standard, simple, far-reaching and grace. The second part probe into ancient Chinese literature and terms of literary theory. The ancient Chinese literature pursued a kind of unspeakable beauty, so did the terms of literary theory.Chapter Ⅶ is conclusion that summarized main results in the paper and issues that need further research.
