For every musical actor, the voice is the most important part. One needs to explore how to integrate the voice and characters on stage, how to use their own body to mobilize their own voice and emotions,in order to perfect the interpretation of a role. The Broadway musical "The Band’s Visit" won 10 Tony Awards in 2018 and received overwhelming praises both at home and abroad. In comparison to the traditional Broadway musicals, the show is more suitable for a medium-sized theatre, does not involve big song and dance numbers and a fluctuating plot.It is a musical purely performed by a "band".Using an unsual approach to narrate the story which is also different from other existing musicals. The music in the show combines the elements of jazz and Middle Eastern music, and with its unique styles it differentiates the distinct characteristics of each character.Through studying and playing the lead female role Dina,I have enhanced my knowledge in different singing techniques, leading to a further understanding of how actors portray their characters through songs to express their emotions.Which contributes to the development of the studies of musical voice performance.
