The Erhu performance is a comparatively young but fast-developing art form. While the Erhu education and composing tend to be under the control of western systems, we could not ignore the close relationship between art forms and human self-feeling experiences. The key of this natural relationship is imagination and figurative thinking. The performing arts need not only feeling imagination and life experiences but also performers' self-feelings to improve the performing efficiency and interest. Figurative thinking is the substantial thinking mode of all art forms. However, various art forms decide that thinking materials are different. In this thesis, the author attempts to expound some issues about self-feeling, acoustic figures and musical figures, which combine figurative thinkings with abstract ones. Since ancient times, Chinese people has been a nationality with high-developed figurative thinking. It is greatly significant to abstract the course of figurative thinking into theory, which is helpful to free theperformers short of imagination and feeling-expression from the difficulties of art study.
