A Research On The Strategies For Liaodong Of Sun Chengzong And Yuan Chonghuan In The Late Ming Dynasty

The late Ming Dynasty was a time when states were often at wars,especially the wars at the northeast part of China,called “Liaoshi”.Nurhachi who was the leader of Jianzhou Jurchens raised his army.He amassed power and expanded his regional influence for years and then established “Later Jin”.So he started to attack Ming Dynasty,and triumphed a lot of times to threaten Ming Dynasty.The national leadership dispatched so many ministers to slove this problem.However,they produce very little effect.At that time,the minister called Sun Chengzong recommend himself for being responsible for the matters of Liaodong.He looked at the whole situation and kept foging ahead to occupy the main points to recover Liaodong.He made plenty of tactics,such as strengthening the defence of ramparts,selecting the generals,training soldiers,using people from Liaodong to guard Liaodong.Also,his successor,who names Yuan Chonghuan,follow Sun's tactics and summarized his tactic called “the combination of defence,attack and peace”.They made the situation of Liaodong brand-new.In general,the tactics of Sun and Yuan are similar,even the progressive relationship.The situation of Liaodong emerged as a new situation,which can tell from many great victories.However,the leader of Jin would be forced to make new tactics to answer that.In the end,Yuan and Sun were away from Liaodong,and their tactics and “heritage ” were all destroyed.We should research on this topic.
