Teenagers are the high risk group of self-injury behaviors.According to foreign investigations and researches, the incidence of self-injury is about 12% to 38% in the general adolescent population, and about 30% to 40% in the clinical sample, which are both much higher than those of the overall population(4% in the general sample, and 21% in the clinical sample).Domestic epidemiological investigations show that the prevalence of self-injury among Chinese adolescents is higher than that in the West.Surveys on ordinary middle school students show that the incidence of self-injury behaviors is as high as 45.6% to 57.4%.In the DSM-5(Fifth Edition)of American Psychiatric Association,self-injury is listed as "diseases required further study".The high incidence of self-injury behaviors indicates that such a kind of behavior should be paid more attention. The researches at home and abroad show that the influencing factors of self-injury behaviors contain both external factors and internal factors. In the research of the external factors, most scholars have investigated the influence of the interpersonal environment(such as family, school and peers)on self-injury behaviors, but few studies have focused on the influence of filial piety beliefs on self-injury behaviors.Studies have found that filial piety beliefs has an impact on individual's mental health.Since self-injury is a typical mental health problem both at home and abroad and the influencing factors and mechanism are also similar to traditional mental health problems,it is of great significance to study the relationship between filial piety beliefs and self-injury behaviors. This study explores the relationship between filial piety beliefs and self-injury behaviors based on the dual filial piety model and the experience avoidance model, and investigates the sequence mediating role of anxiety and experience avoidance. The convenience-sampling method was adopted to test 897 junior and senior high school students from two middle schools in Xinyang city. The selected students were tested by the adolescent self-injury scale, filial piety beliefs scale, experience avoidance scale, and depression anxiety stress scale. The test results are as follows:(1)the reciprocal filial piety belief is negatively correlated with anxiety, experience avoidance and self-injury behaviors. There was a significant positive correlation between anxiety and experience avoidance, and a significant positive correlation between any two of anxiety, experience avoidance and self-injury behaviors. There was no correlation between the authoritative filial piety belief and any one of anxiety, experience avoidance, and self-injury behaviors.(2)anxiety and experience avoidance play an sequential mediating role between the reciprocal filial piety belief and self-injury behaviors.Specifically, the reciprocal filial piety belief affects self-injury behaviors through two paths: one is the single mediating effect of anxiety;the other is the sequence mediating effect of anxiety and experience avoidance. The conclusion is that the reciprocal filial piety belief has a certain effect on self-injury behaviors and this effect is formed by the interaction of anxiety and experience avoidance.
