The translation text of this report is excerpted from Do Your Om Thing.In this book,the author demonstrates how Yoga changes one’s life and vividly tells the readers her understanding of what Yoga is.She is the grandmaster of worldwide reputation and the creator of OmGal.com,a famous Yoga blog.The main task of this report is on how to translate culture-loaded words better.The translator translates this book in pursuit of improving the translation skills and catching more people’s eyes to focus on body health more by delivering more information of yoga.The interpreter reads the referential books on Yoga recommended by the writer and selects the most classic ones as the parallel texts.In addition,the classification of culture-loaded words,also known as realia,namely the lexical coincidence,the false coincidence,the cultural coincidence,and the lexical gap is summarized and translation techniques are elaborated.Abided by case analysis,the translator gives the Thick Translation theory more operability.The translation tactics are analysed based on the difficulty of text selected,namely the translation of culture-loaded words.Guided by the Thick Translation theory,techniques including calque,approximate translation,descriptive translation,contextual translation,comment and annotation are used for translating and analysing the typical cases,in order to convey the information of the source text and reveal the culture hidden.Against the backdrop of multi-culture,not only can the study on culture-loaded words and their translation techniques bridge the gap between two different cultures but also help output more cultural products characterized on inclusiveness and sustainability. |
