In the past,the research on social services carried out by religions in China mainly focused on Christianity and Buddhism,while Taoism,as China's indigenous religion,was rarely studied.In fact,Taoism has been carrying out charitable activities and providing more and more social services.Therefore,the researchers want to explore the current situation of social services provided by Shanghai Taoism,understand why and how it provides social services,and elaborate on the current situation and future development plans of Shanghai Taoism.This study uses purposive sampling strategy to select four Taoist temples in Shanghai: Shanghai City God Temple,Shanghai Baiyun Temple,Shanghai Sanjing Temple and Shanghai Shize Taoist Academy to conduct interviews and observations and carry out case studies.The study found that in the process of social service,the daoist circle in Shanghai consciously drew a clear line between religious belief and social service,and the relationship between religious belief and social service was not close.In order to be able to better adapt to social environment,and promote the development of social services,Shanghai road the college set up the foundation,qualities such as non-profit organizations,this makes long with clergy and the double identity of public charity workers,the vast majority of cases,social service is dominated by view of temple,Shanghai Taoism can be seen as an important part of social public welfare charity.From the perspective of Shanghai daoist circle,there are problems of insufficient specialization,insufficient standardization and shortage of funds and personnel.The researcher put forward Suggestions for Shanghai daoism community to better carry out social service in the future from two aspects: improving the specialization of social service team and strengthening the ability to integrate and link resources.
