Rabindranath Tagore was born when India's three major reforms converged. This was a historical stage in which Indian society ruptured and attempted to be closed.Deep in the swirls of epochs,Tagore devoted himself to literature and social movements actively.Tagore took the time of Western modernity as a breakthrough, who received and decoded Western cultures meanwhile based on Indian traditions. In the comparison between Western and Indian cultures,Tagore have increasingly established the national cultural identity and formed a unique cognition of "aesthetics modernity".Tagore's "aesthetics modernity" plays the same role as western aesthetic modernity in the worldwide, which stubbornly resists the spiritual crisis that brought by enlightenment modernity. That also built a solid base for Oriental aesthetics "going out",and built a harmonious spiritual shelter for modern people. This article mainly explains Tagore's "aesthetics modernity" in three chapters. The first chapter starts with the word modern, which has obvious consciousness. However,Tagore have different perspective of the "modern".He deconstructed the western modern and gave "modern" its Indian nationality. The second chapter is mainly based on "aesthetics",summarizing Tagore's recognition of "beauty",and combines his knowledge of time to strengthen the social function of modern aesthetics. Finally,it is demonstrated from literary works. The third chapter starts with the heterogeneity of oriental and Western aesthetics, exploring the deep intention of Tagore's "aesthetics modernity".The pressure of modernization and urbanization brought by westernmodernity, which led to a lot of social problems in modern India.Tagore tried to use oriental aesthetics to alleviate the crisis of culture and personal existence, which was faced with India and the majority of eastern countries.
