On The Construction Of “Ai X Jiu X”

"Ai X jiu X" is a commonly used construction in modern Chinese,which consists of the psychological verb "ai",the adverb "jiu" and the variable "X".At present,most scholars focus on the study of "willing verb +X jiu X".In the research on the construction of "Ai X jiu X",scholars do not have a comprehensive and clear definition of the construction,nor do they have a detailed study on the part of speech of the variable "X" entering the construction of "Ai X jiu X".When foreign students acquire this construction,they have errors in understanding the expression of subjectivity,and the use condition of the variable "X" is also likely to cause confusion.Therefore,according to the structure type of grammar,three planes and cognitive linguistics theory as the basis of research,using the description and interpretation,qualitative and quantitative,the combination of form and meaning of "Ai X jiu X" structure type from the Angle of semantics,syntax,pragmatics,a comprehensive system of research,in order to help students understand and grasp accurately the structure type of usage.Through the description and analysis of the corpus,it is found that: firstly,in the construction of "Ai X jiu X",the semantic inflection of the psychological verb "ai",the adverb "ai" have the function of highlighting the semantics,and the variable "X" has the characteristics of [+action] [arbitrariness].Semantically,"Ai X jiu X" expresses a subjective arbitrariness that is [+positive] [+selective](implied with "jiu yao X," regardless of what others think)."Ai X jiu X" is a predicative construction,which is often used as a predicate in a sentence.Pragmatically,"Ai X jiu X" has the characteristics of highlighting focus,subjectivity and economy of expression.This paper explains and analyzes the construction of "Ai X jiu X" from the perspective of subjectivity and prominence.Finally,some variant forms of the construction of "Ai X jiu X" are analyzed,and some Suggestions for teaching Chinese as a foreign language are put forward based on the research results of this paper.
