A Study Of The Oral Construction "X+ge+P"

This paper analyses the structure "X+ge+P" in perspective of construction theory, we determine that the structure "X+ge+P" is a construction. Then we study this construction’s structure and the characteristics of its constructional elements. At last, we explain the syntactic function and the pragmatic features of this construction. There are six parts of the total text.Chapter one is the preface part, in this part, we demonstrate the significance and the comprehensive studies of this topic, then we introduce the main theory and the method of this paper, we illustrate the source of the material.Chapter two is analyses of the judgment and meaning of structure "X+ge+P", we determine this construction as a construction according to the definition of construction, and this construction has negative meaning, the prevention meaning and the evaluation meaning.Chapter three mainly focuses on the characteristics of constructional elements. We analyses every element of this construction, and find that "ge" is a function word, the verbs and the adjectives are always acting as "X", but not all kinds of them could be "X", there are three kinds of words could be "p":expletive, non expletive and the new type of "P"Chapter four concerns on the syntactic function, the construction "X+ge+P" could be"predicate+object/complement/attributive" in simple sentence, this construction could be a clause in complex sentence. The construction could be a simple sentence, and sometimes it also could be a title.Chapter five pays attention to the pragmatic features, the construction "X+ge+P" is a oral construction, so it has the stylistics of colloquial. It has interjective function and referential function, this construction shows absolutely negative effort, we analyses the reason of this effort.Chapter six is the conclusion of the paper. We summarize our viewpoints and state the innovation of this thesis as well as some problems unsolved.
