There is a lot of academic research on the silk-horse exchange between Uighur and Tang dynasty.but it is devoted to the national relations and the price of the horse, and seldom pays attention to the real problems hidden behind the silk-horse exchange market. The price of the Uighur horse is often 2 to 3 times higher than the ordinary price,or even substandard, the sick horse, dead horse into the Tang Dynasty. And the Tang Dynasty,in spite of financial constraints, did not need so many horses, but still gives lots of silk for Uighur. In fact, the essence of mutual market should not lie in the trade itself, but in the Tang Dynasty's desire to impose economic restraint on the people of Tibet. The climate in the north of the desert is cold, the residents are more engaged in animal husbandry,it is not suitable to wear silk, and the population of the north desert is small,no more than 300,000.And every year through the silk horse exchange market from the Tang Dynasty easy to return a large number of silk, sometimes a year as many as 500,000.In addition to a small number of self-use,most of these large quantities of silk were sold by Uighur and Sultmoni monks, some at high prices to the surrounding ethnic groups, some through "Khan Road" and " The Uighur Road" sold to the Western region, some through Changan West City or Luoyang a place to sell to the Tang people or the local of Hu merchants. The Silk horse of trade on the surface is trade, but its essence is not "trade ",Under the cover of trade, the Tang Dynasty to return to a means of restraint for Uighur.Although this trade is In the name of the Uighur, the apparent profits of the khanate, and the real profits of the most should be the Sogdian merchants and the Manichaean monks, which is the essence of the Tang Dynasty and Uighur's silk horse trade.
