Jean-Fancois Millet(Jean-Fancois Millet,1814-1875)is the most loved realist painter in modern French painting history.His work has always focused on grasping the overall sense of the picture.The picture is highly summarized and shows the most essential characteristics of the character.This article expounds the uniqueness of Miller's oil paintings from the perspective of research on the overall sense of the picture.By discussing and sorting out Miller's background and artistic development stage,he further analyzes the artistic pursuit of the overall sense of shape,composition and color in his works.Finally,it discusses the influence of Miller's works on Europe and China,and gives examples of Miller's influence on Van Gogh,Baba,Lu Sibai,Chen Danqing and other artists.Through the interpretation of Miller's works and the comparative study of the works of senior masters,the importance of the whole sense in painting creation is expounded.This article focuses on the overall sense of Miller's painting language,and hopes to promote the author's future painting creation and enlighten the relevant research in the future.
