A Study On The Artistic Style Of Zhang Chunlei’s Liuzi Opera

Zhang Chunlei is a well-known performer of Liuzi opera in China.He is famous for shaping the role of "Zhang Fei" and is honored as "living Zhang Fei" by audiences.In his decades of artistic career,he not only created the roles familiar to many audiences,but also created the first school of Liuzi opera,"Zhang School" art,which promoted the inheritance and development of Liuzi opera after the founding of the people’s Republic of China.His personal style is unique in the performance of Liuzi opera,and many of his original roles have been highly appreciated by the audiences and experts.Based on the history of Liuzi opera,this paper discusses the artistic style of Zhang Chunlei’s Liuzi opera in three chapters:The first chapter discusses the formation and rise and fall of Liuzi opera.The popular folk songs Xiaoling after the middle of Ming Dynasty were the foundation of the formation of Liuzi opera and an important source of materials in the formation of drama.During Jiaqing and Wanli years,the rise of printing industry,the singing of geisha and the absorption of exotic tune,as well as the large population and prosperous cities promoted the formation of Liuzi opera.The development process of Liuzi opera can be divided into three stages.First of all,the performances in Beijing at the beginning of its formation made it rank among the"four major Tunes" and become prosperous for a while;secondly,the operas flourished again in the place of origin after leaving Beijing;finally,the introduction of national policies after the founding of the people’s Republic of China led to the resurgence of Liuzi opera again.In the second chapter,Zhang Chunlei’s artistic career is explained.Zhang Chunlei was born in a family of Liuzi.The three generations made great contributions to the inheritance and communication of Liuzi opera in modern times.With the maturity of Zhang Chunlei’s performing art style,the first genre of drama has gradually formed,and its performing style has been inherited and enriched in the genre.The third chapter is the key chapter of this paper.It mainly analyzes Zhang Chunlei’s two representative plays from three aspects:tune,emotion and performance.In "Zhang Fei breaks through the gate",Zhang Chunlei showed a straightforward and lovely image through the use of loud coughing and bursting sounds,the collaboration of a variety of original shapes,and the perfect combination of singing and singing melody.In "Meet brother in Wutai mountain",the statue of Luohan was borrowed by Zhang Chunlei,and through the combined effect of sound,shape and singing,he presented a heroic image of his home country.Zhang Chunlei adheres to the creative concept of "thousands of people,thousands of faces",and successfully shapes the artistic image familiar to many audiences through the artistic creation methods of body performance and voice singing.
