With a focus on the difficulty that students may encounter,the so-called "question chain” is to transform the reading material knowledge into a series of clear,hierarchical and systematic questions in order to achieve certain teaching goals,based on the students' knowledge and experience.In traditional reading teaching,the classroom teaching basically follows the instruction and practice model.Students are asked to finish the learning tasks under the given framework.English teaching focuses on knowledge imparting.As a result,students' enthusiasm and initiative about leaning will not be motivated,let alone inspiring students' thinking.This makes it difficult to improve students' reading skills.To solve the problems,the researcher introduces the "question chain” teaching model which aims to improve English reading teaching.Based on interaction theory,constructivism theory and scaffolding teaching theory,this study explores the application of "question chain” teaching model in reading teaching of high school English.90 students from The Affiliated High School of Fuzhou Institute of Education were chosen as the subjects of this experiment which lasted from September2018 to January 2019.The researcher made use of three study tools,including reading test,questionnaire and interview to study how the "question chain” teaching model can improve the English reading capability of high school students.The reading test is designed to reflect the changes in students' scores before and after the experiment.Questionnaire and interview mainly show the influence of "question chain” teaching model on students' English learning.After four months' research and comparing the data before and after the experiment,it can be seen that the "question chain” teaching model can help to improve the student's emotion,knowledge,exploration and thinking.The "question chain” teaching model can arouse students' interests in reading and improve their performance in reading.Meanwhile,it is conducive to students' comprehension.
