No any national boarder or social boundary might be established to wall off literary works — this is especially true when it comes down to western fantasy literature streaming into China. They have broadened the horizons of Chinese people and promoted the development of literature translation. From Harry Potter series to the novel A Song of Ice and Fire, western fantasy literature is getting to be increasingly popular in China.Based on the translation of the first two chapters of the novel Empire of Sand from the writer Tasha Suri, this practice report, including the introduction, features of the source text, translation process, case analysis and conclusion, analyzes the problems encountered during the translation process and puts forward suitable solutions.Under the theoretical framework of Eco-translatology,the translator puts forward corresponding solutions to different problems from the linguistic dimension, the cultural dimension and the communicative dimension. In the linguistic dimension, the translator adopts conversion, voice conversion and restructuring to make an adaptive selection at the lexical and syntactic levels. In the cultural dimension, the translator adopts transliteration with annotation and literal translation to translate the culture-loaded words. In the communicative dimension, the original text contains some demonstrative pronouns and words or phrases with specific meanings, which make it difficult for the translator to understand the intention of the author accurately. In order to solve the problems, the translator supplements the demonstrative information of the pronouns and adopts the translation technique of abstraction to express the specific meanings. Thus, the translation becomes faithful and smooth.Through this translation, the translator has achieved much experience, and she also hopes to provide translation reference for other translators.
