A Comparison Study On Modal Particle In Guoyu And Zuozhuan

Modal particle is one kind of functional words,and it is also one of the important marks that distinguish Chinese from other languages.Pre-Qin is an important period for the formation and development of Chinese modal particles.Guoyu and Zuozhuan are both typical proses in pre-Qin period,pretty long,rich in content and covering various aspects.In terms of history,ideological content,language and characters,there are precious research values.Especially Guoyu,has great potentials for making further progress in linguistic research.According to the criterion of this paper,we determine thirteen modal particles used alone which are contained in both Guoyu and Zuozhuan,namely ye?,hu?,yi?,yan?,zhe?,fu?,wei?,yi?,eryi??,zai?,ye?(?),xi?,yu?.We determine nine modal particles used consecutively,namely yeyi??,yezai??,yefu??,yehu??,yezhe??,zheye??,huzai??,yihu??,yehuzai???.Eryiyi???is unique to Guoyu,and ju?,yizai??,yiyi??,yifu??,eryihu???are unique to Zuozhuan.This paper mainly works on modal particles mentioned above.on the one hand,we reveal the characteristics with in-depth description,trying to make up for the lack of the exploration of modal particles in Guoyu and improve the achievements in Zuozhuan.We strive to provide some basic materials for the research of Chinese language history,and it is expected that this paper could do some help in promoting the process of researching the Pre-Qin modal particles.On the other hand,whether Guoyu and Zuozhuan are created by the same person has been a puzzle in long history.We try to provide some new ideas and evidence from the perspective of modal particles to solve the puzzle.
