Kangyur Lamasery,a Tibetan Buddhism temple,has risen to fame in Xinjiang.It is not only the center of studying and practicing Buddhism for Mongolian lamas from all cross Xinjiang,but also the place where people of all nationalities often come for medical advice and medicine to cure diseases and treat injuries.It used to be the center of Mongolian economy,commerce,religion,belief,education,culture,art and more in this region in history,and enjoyed a high status among the broad masses of believers.Most of the lamas in the temple are proficient in multiple spoken and written languages of Mongolian,Chinese,Tibetan language,Uygur language,Kazakh and more in the multinational humanistic environment of Xinjiang,showing the characteristics of the temple in the multinational region and multiculture.This paper introduces the development history of the Kangyur Lamasery,explores the current situation of the temple based on previous research results and some first-hand information obtained from fieldwork and other scientific research means,analyzes many thorny problems encountered by the temple at present,narrates the author’s perception,and proposes some suggestionsThis paper consists of six parts,including introduction,three chapters of the text,conclusion,appendix and main references.It briefly introduces in the introduction the topic selection background and its academic significance and social values,as well as the domestic and foreign research situation,and explains the main contents and research methods of the paper.In the first chapter of the text,this paper narrates that the Oirat Mongols,who lived in the present Xinjiang area,converted to the Tibetan Buddhism Gelug Seet,eommonly known as the Shamanism in the late 16th or early 17th century based on some existing historical documents,briefly introduces the history development evolution of the Ikhuerlai Lamasery,the predecessor of the Kangyur Lamasery,and analyzes the role of Tibetan Buddhist temples in Mongolian society in this area.But under the impact of the mass movement of the "Cultural Revolution sweeping the country in the mid-1960s,temples were forced to stop their normal religious activities,and many precious cultural relics collected in the temple,including scriptures,ritual implements and Buddha Thangka,were devastated or lost.Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee,the party’s religious policy was restored and implemented under the circumstance of the whole nation from the leadership to the masses setting wrong things right and taking the development road of reform and opening up with the correct leadership of the CPC Central Committee,so the temple has been restored and renamed as the Kangyur Lamasery.In the second chapter,it explores the temple itself,including the temple management,their fostering contents and living actuality,and expounds the characteristics of the temple status quoIn the third chapter,it mainly discusses the positive functions played by the temple,such as medical service,charity and enriching local folk culture,as well as positive effects on social development.Finally,it describes the perception of the temple and proposes some opinions and suggestions for its future development.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper.
