Analysis On Features And Causes Of Jade Wares In The Yuan Dynasty

The Yuan Dynasty is a very special period in Chinese history,which has unprecedented vast territory,complex and diverse ethnic groups,frequent foreign exchanges,and open religious and cultural policies,which created the situation of multicultural coexistence in the Yuan Dynasty.Jade wares of the Yuan Dynasty with distinctive characteristics were born under this historical background.This dissertation chooses archeologically discovered jade wares and other jade wares with clear era of the Yuan Dynasty as the research object.On the basis of the relevant archaeological and museum materials,the author sorts out jade wares of the Yuan Dynasty according to their functions and focus on describing the typical utensils.Secondly,afterward understanding the basic situation of jade wares of the Yuan Dynasty,its material,shape and craft characteristics were analysed to show the uniqueness of the jade wares.Finally,it is important to expound the causes for the peculiarity of jade wares in the Yuan Dynasty,which can be summarized as four parts: inheriting the cultural traditions of the Han nation,the grassland cultural genes of the Liao,Jin Dynasty and Mongolian,extensively absorbing outside culture and blending innovation.Among them,the most significant cause for the formation of jade wares of the Yuan Dynasty is their pluralistic and integrated culture.
