"Western opera" is an opera concept put forward by Shaanxi composer Zhang Yulong in the 1990 s,which means to use Western folk music materials to create opera about historical figures in Western China.According to Zhang Yulong's recollection,he was inspired by western movies and Western literature at that time,and thus put forward the concept of "Western opera".In essence,it has a continuous relationship with western literature and movies,that is,it focuses on highlighting regional cultural characteristics.In the development of Chinese opera,there are not a few operas based on regional music culture,but it is rare to study Chinese opera from this theoretical perspective,which opens the author's research on the phenomenon of "Western opera".From the perspective of regional music research and historiography research,this paper takes two operas "Zhang Qian" and "Sima Qian" created by composer Zhang Yulong as research objects.Based on the discussion of the relationship between "regional music research" and "Western opera",this paper further discusses the play and music creation of the two "Western operas",explores the style characteristics and formation reasons of "Western opera" in combination with the context of the times,history and humanity,and finally summarizes the value and influence of "Western opera".The paper is divided into three parts: introduction,chapter one,chapter two,chapter three,chapter four and conclusion.The introduction part is the research object and significance,research status,research purpose,research methods and chapter arrangement.The first chapter discusses the relationship between "regional music research" and "Western opera",and the feasibility of using the perspective of "regional music research" to study "Western opera".The second chapter discusses the text creation of the two operas,from the dramatic structure of the script to the relationship between the characters,and then to the image of the characters,analyzes the reconstruction of historicalcharacters by the playwright and composer step by step,and summarizes the specific practice of "Western opera" in the two operas.The third chapter is the analysis of the music creation of the two operas,from the three aspects of the figure music image shaping,the dramatic recitation and the dramatic conflict of the chorus,to analyze the presentation of the composer "Western opera" in the music creation.The fourth chapter summarizes the value and influence of Western opera.The research of "Western opera" is put in the background of "regional music research" and "Chinese Opera Research",and the value and influence of "Western opera" are summarized.
