Xin Yukun,as a new director in Chinese filmdom,is a representative personage of young directors,who has attracted much attention with his unique and sharp creative features.This thesis comprehensively and systematically studies Xin Yukun’s movies,and two movies directed and written by Xin Yukun,The Coffin In The Mountain and Wrath Of Silence,are main research objects.Starting from the form and content of movies,it combs the context of complex narration,and explores the director’s desire of expression,rational thinking and spiritual core.Movies reflect real life with realism.Xin Yukun chooses the news events that happened in the society as the content object of the film adaptation,so as to be close to the real life.Criticizing the problems and crises brought by the rapid development of urbanization and industrialization.to the countryside and even the whole society,In the countryside and even in the whole society,peasant and underclass are faced with survival predicament and awkward position.To create typical characters not only makes the character more vivid,but also reflects human alienation caused by the development of society and times.Through emotional and destiny,movies present people are helplessness and insignificance.The characters who integrate beauty and ugliness are placed in the gray area to explore good and evil of human nature.Xin Yukun has a strong ability to construct movie time and space.He chooses and combines time and space appropriately.and at the same time expands the depth and meaning of the movies.It is a test to composite narrative structure on the time setting of the film.Non-linear narrative is conducive to setting suspense and increasing the uncertainty of the film.Temporal frequency emphasizes the core events,and make the events three-dimensional and polyhedral.Unrealistic time externalizes inner conflict of characters and enriches connotation of theme.Compared with time,space is more simplified.Geographical spaces,death space and social spaces all imply symbolic significance,and enhance the ideological value of movies.There is a good dialogue or integration between commerciality and artistry.Xin Yukun,who just started to be a film director,is exploring his own creation in the low-cost limit.The composite narrative structure of the two movies is very ingenious.The group of characters interlace to promote the plot and enhance dramatic tension.Learning from the genre film,especially film noir,the inheritance and innovation of the classic model not only help the audience understand movies,but also add local culture.At the same time,Xin Yukun have not forgotten the artistic essence of the film,peeped at psychological states of characters through their inner conflicts.He is good at using movie language such as paragraphing,long take,zolly and montage,to emphasize the logicality,consistency and significance of the film.
