In the last ten years,the English textbooks for junior high schools have been constantly revised,and in addition,the new entrance examination has been reformed,English words are becoming more and more important.Usually,vocabulary teaching is in a sequence from sound to form to meaning.Pronunciation is the initial impression of students when they come into contact with a word.If they can't pronounce a word,they can't remember its form.Therefore,to remember a word,they should first spell it accurately.Phonetic alphabet learning is the basis and the only way for students to learn English,such as pronunciation,word recognition and syntax.It is also the fundamental guarantee for students to learn English well and take interest in English.The present study explores the teaching methods of phonetic symbols in junior high school,in an attempt to providing reference for the teaching of phonetic symbols in junior high school English teachers.Based on the theories of constructivism and transfer theory,and combined with the basic concepts of English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education in 2017,this thesis designs a "Dui Dui Method",and conducts a quantitative and qualitative study by using the methods of documentation,investigation,interview and testing to explore effective ways of English pronunciation teaching in junior high schools.In this study,two classes of the seventh grade in a junior high school were selected as the experimental subjects,and they were taught "Dui Dui Method" for one term to examine its feasibility and effectiveness in teaching of phonetic symbolsThe results show that:(1)"Dui Dui Method " teaching method has a positive impact on students' autonomous learning of English,and helps students to pronounce words independently and improves their interest in English learning.(2)"Dui Dui Method" can improve students' abiltity of memorizing English words,especially for the English beginners.This study verifies the effectiveness of "Dui Dui Method" in the teaching of phonetic symbols in junior high school phonetic alphabet teaching,and provides a useful reference for "pairing method" to penetrate into junior high school teaching.
