The development of the Korean Peninsula situation has always been a hot issue to the international community. In 2018,South Korea released the "Defense Reform 2.0" plan, which opened a new round of defense and military reform. As one of the major countries around the Korean Peninsula,we should have an in-depth understanding of the related trends in South Korea's national defense and military reform. This report selects Korean Defense: What to Do and How to Do by Zheng Hongyong, former head of the South Korea's Agency of Defense Development,as the translation material. The author of this book makes an assessment of South Korea's current national security situation. At the same time,he proposes relevant solutions to the various problems arising from South Korea's previous defense reforms, and expresses his views on issues such as the development of South Korea's national defense and armed forces in the future. This translation report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly introduces the purpose of this translation practice. The second chapter is the introduction to this translation project, which mainly introduces the background, the source text and its author. The third chapter is the description of the translation process, mainly discussing the whole process of translation,as well as the related work done before and after translating; The fourth chapter is the case analysis under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory. In this chapter, the translator introduces the theory applied in this translation practice.Considering the differences between Korean and Chinese and the features of military texts,it also demonstrates how to achieve the functional equivalence between the source text and the target text, which is elaborated from four aspects: vocabulary, sentence, text and style. The fifth chapter is the conclusion, mainly summarizing the findings and enlightenments from this translation practice, reflecting on the problems encountered in this translation practice, and making clear the direction of efforts in the future.Through this translation practice, the translator hopes to improve translation proficiency and to further master relevant skills in Korean-Chinese translation. On this basis, the translator hopes to achieve an in-depth understanding of South Korea's national defense and military development and to provide some reference for China's national defense and military reform.
