Heteronym words are an important part of Chinese vocabulary.According to the current research results, scholars can not unify the criteria for defining concepts by using phonetics or word meanings. The research on heteronym words and their subordinate concepts is not comprehensive and in-depth and the research angle is relatively simple. The study on heteronym words in Modern Chinese Dictionary is still based on the fifth edition. With the revision of Modern Chinese Dictionary to the seventh edition, the heteronym words in the latest edition of the dictionary awaits further investigation and exploration.Consequently, with the situation of research, this paper chooses non-monosyllabic homographs with different syllables as the research object, and obtains 309 groups of non-monosyllabic heteronym words from Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)through exhaustive manual retrieval.Firstly,by using these methods of combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, description and interpretation, and combination of form and meaning,309 words are classified from three perspectives: phonetic form,part-of-speech relationship and word-formation mode, and 18 categories of phonetic form,23 categories of part-of-speech relationship and 18 categories of word-formation mode are obtained.Secondly,we respectively analyze the relationship between phonetic form and part of speech, phonetic form and word formati on of nonmonosyllabic heteronym words. The results show that light tone is the main influencing factor, and its influence on part of speech is mainly reflected in the same parts of speech category of "noun" and "verb" as well as the embodied in corresponding rules of nouns and verbs, nouns and adjectives, verbs and adjectives with different parts of speech. Finally, based on these regularity characteristics,we describes the morphological distribution characteristics of different phonetic means such as lig ht tone, general light reading, tone, initial, vowel and affix, and discusses the rationality of different phonetic means as a generalized form in homonyms.Through analysis of non monosyllabic heteronym words, this paper attempts to supplement the research results on the concept of subordinate homograph and promotes the revision of Homographs Dictionary. It also provides some opinions and references on the arrangement of separate entries of separate items of heteronym words in the Modern Chinese Dictionary. Finally,we put forward the idea that heteronomy can be regarded as a generalized form.
