Taijiquan classics include not only the techniques,but also the essence of Chinese philosophy,traditional Chinese medicine and other ideas.In the process of translation and communication of Chinese culture,Taijiquan which contains rich traditional Chinese culture is of great significance to the promotion of Chinese traditional culture and China's soft power.However,there are still some problems such as how to select works,how to translate to avoid cultural default,how to broaden the communication channel,how to strengthen the researches on effect,which influence the process of translation and communication of Taijiquan works.It is urgent to conduct the comprehensive and systematic study of the existing Taijiquan translation works to promote the translation and communication of Taijiquan works,and to promote the spread of Taijiquan abroad as well.Among the few commuricators,Zheng Manqing is a more outstanding one.Zheng Manqing went to the United States to teach Taijiquan in the 1960s and made great contributions to the development of Taijiquan in the United States.His Taijiquan books have also been translated and published in the United States several times.It is necessary to do the research on the translation and communication of Zheng M anqing's Taijiquan works in the United States.Based on Medio-translatology,this paper analyzes the process of the translation and acceptance of the English version of Zheng Manqing's Taijiquan works(the four translation works)by using literature review method,case analysis and text analysis This paper not only focuses on the content and translation of the text itself,but also analyzes the elements of communication to explore how the actors such as authors,translators,publishers,and the multi-media interaction model influence the overseas communication of the translation works so as to provide new inspiration for overseas communication of Taijiquan and martial arts classics.After analysis,the conclusions are as follows:Regarding the "translation" of Zheng Manqing's Taijiquan works,first,in the selection of translators,the Chinese-Western translation model is better;second,in the selection of works,it is better to choose Taijiquan masters' works,highly marketable works,and the works that can satisfy the demands of the audience;third,in the selection of translation strategies,translators do the "creative treason" to try to balance the relationship between "retaining cultural characteristics" and"maintaining external communication".Besides,translation is not the only option,and there are other methods such as rewriting based on the original text that can be used to promote the communication.Regarding the "communication" of Zheng Manqing's Taijiquan works,first,in terms of communication channels,authors,translators,publishers and other actors rely on their own comprehensive capital and the multi-media interaction model to broader the communication scope of the four translation works;second,in terms of communication audiences,the target audience of the four translation works is Taijiquan practitioners,recently,the health value of Taijiquan has been increasingly valued and widely studied,which can be used to attract the attention of middle-aged and elderly people;third,in terms of communication effect,the overall score of the four translation works on Amazon's online bookstore and Goodreads is above four(a total of five].According to the audience's feedback,the audience basically recognized the usefulness of the four translation works and the communication has been relatively successful.The "translation" and "communication" of Zheng Manqing's Taijiquan works are interlinked with each other.The four translation works are successfully transformed into social sharing to expand the scope of communication and extend the life of the works under the combined action of different models(masterpiece&famous,author model;complementary model of translators;diversified model of translation methods;network model of communication channel;the audience's demand model)and influencing factors(the comprehensive capital of Zheng Manqing,the publishing houses and the translators,and the marketability of the works).This paper attempts to comprehensively analyze the four translation works of Zheng Manqing's Taijiquan works,which has some innovations and enriches the practical content of the translation and communication of Taijiquan classics.However,there are still many contents that are necessary to do more in-depth researches by using other methods such as field investigation and questionnaire.
