Study On The The Form And Writing Of Bamboo Strips Of Chu State From Baoshan Tomb No.2

There are 278 slips unearthed from Baoshan tomb No.2,including administrative documents,divination and prayer records and inventory of burial goods.Baoshan bamboo strips are abundant in quantity,well preserved,clear in writing and rich in content,which have an important academic value.This paper takes Baoshan bamboo strips as the research object,and with the help of new infrared image data,sorts out and discusses the physical properties and external form,writing features and characters of Baoshan bamboo strips.In terms of physical properties and external form,analyze the processing procedure of bamboo strips,recheck the length of bamboo strips and the position of the notches,and supplement or correct the existing binding bamboo strips by using the information of verso lines.In this paper,we measure the length of Baoshan bamboo strips,verify the the notches of bamboo strips,and make the information tables of the length of bamboo strips and the situation of the notches respectively.By using the infrared image data,we sort out the verso lines of Baoshan bamboo strips for the first time,and make a new statistical table of verso lines’ information.Combined with the shape information of verso lines,the length of bamboo strips,the notch of bamboo strips and position of bamboo joints,we make an adjustment for No.186 of the “Suozhu”(所?)strips,and speculate on the attribution of No.178 of the “Suozhu”(所?)strips.In the aspect of writing features,it analyzes the situation of the characters in Baoshan bamboo strips,classifies and narrates the forms and functions of the symbols,points out the forms of rewriting and supplementary writing,and discusses the situation of leaving blank and scraping.Based on the observation of the material object and the recording format of the bamboo strips’ text,it is considered that the six blanks in the bamboo strips’ text are formed after scraping,which is different from the blank phenomenon formed by the blank reserved in advance according to the writing program.In the aspect of the writing characteristics,this paper collects,classifies and cites some examples of the characters’ characteristics,such as simplification,complication,abnormity and error.In addition to selecting some representative glyphs as examples,this paper also analyzes some glyphs that have not been explained or interpreted correctly before,so as to show their physical characteristics.Through the study of this paper,we try to have a more objective and accurate understanding of the physical properties and external form and writing of Baoshan administrative documents,divination and prayer records and inventory of burial goods,so as to provide a reference for the textual restoration and content research of Baoshan bamboo strips,and promote the research on the the physical properties and external form and writing of Warring States bamboo strips.
