“Mahua FunAge”:A Study Of Adaptation From Drama To Film

Since the birth of film,drama is closely related to film.It has been a long time since the adaptation of drama into films.It opened a new way of adaptation of drama when Mr.Cao Yu’s play《Thunderstorm》and 《Sunrise》were adapted into movies in 1938.Decades passed by,the adaptation of the drama film has been on the way.In 2015,"Mahua FunAge" brought its new year’s hilarious stage play "Goodbye Mr.Loser" to the screen,with a score of7.6 points for Douban and selled 1.44 billion Yuan.It successfully completed the gorgeous turn from drama to film,and also opened the curtain of adaptation of "Mahua FunAge" drama.In a short period of four years,"Mahua FunAge" has established its own brand characteristics in comedy films with the achievements of three original dramas.The results were mixed.Based on the film narrative theory,this paper takes the adaptation of "Mahua FunAge" drama as the research object,using literature review,case analysis and comparative analysis to explore the "narrative transformation" and "adaptation characteristics" of the adaptation of "Mahua FunAge" drama.Through sorting out the relevant theories on the "kinship" relationship between drama and film,sorting out the collected data,analyzing the existing theories,and finding out the theoretical basis to support this topic,at the same time,using the method of comparative analysis to sort out the narrative transformation of the adapted film of "Mahua FunAge" drama from the aspects of plot transformation and space construction,so as to basically clarify the significance of the transformation.By using the method of comparative analysis,we can summarize and analyze the characteristics of the adaptation film of "Mahua FunAge" drama,so as to get clear and regular unique factors about the adaptation film of "Mahua FunAge" drama,as well as the effective content of the transformation from drama narrative to film narrative.This paper sums up the problems in the adaptation of "Mahua FunAge" drama by using the method of case analysis,and gives thecorresponding countermeasures according to the problems,and looks forward to the future road of the adaptation of "Mahua FunAge" movie by combining the characteristics of the adaptation of "Mahua FunAge" drama.Through research and analysis,the adapted film of "Mahua FunAge" drama has obvious advantages over the drama in plot setting,space construction and visual presentation,with richer narrative means and wider expression.But there are also some problems in the process of adaptation,such as kitsch,lack of Filmization and fragmentation of narrative.
