A Study On The Translation Of The White Paper From The Perspective Of The Functional Equivalence

Nowadays,with the frequent occurrence of natural disasters,it is particularly important to study and formulate policies on disasters for the society,especially for teenagers.All departments of the Japanese government have been actively promoting a series of disaster response measures,which have been implemented throughout the country and achieved good results.On August 15,2019,Japan's Ministry of Education,Culture,Sports,Science and Technology issued 2018 White Paper on Education,Culture,Sports,Science and Technology,in which a special topic " strengthening the response to major disasters" was published,with the full text of more than 12000 words,mainly summarizing the relevant work in response to natural disasters in 2018.Guided by the theory of functional equivalence,this paper analyzes the translation of Topic 2 "strengthening the response to major disasters" of the 2018 White Paper on Education,Culture,Sports,Science and Technology,summarizes the translation methods and strategies of words and sentences in the white paper text,and provides some references for the translation of similar texts in the future.The report consists of the following parts: Chapter One is the introduction,which introduces the purpose,background and significance of translation practice,and advanced research at home and abroad.Chapter Two is the process of translation,mainly focusing on text analysis,theoretical preparation and translation proofreading.The third chapter is case study,which explores and analyzes the translated text from two aspects of vocabulary and syntax,and summarizes the corresponding translation strategies at each level.Among them,vocabulary is mainly analyzed from three aspects: proprietary vocabulary,Loanwords and high-frequency vocabulary;syntax is mainly analyzed from two aspects: passive sentence and complex long sentence.The fourth chapter is the summary of translation practice,aiming at the difficulties and solutions encountered in the process of translation,and the experience gained from it.
