| Since the 20 th century,Western cultural geography has seen a "cultural turn",giving a broader and deeper research space for cultural geography.The "cultural turn" research on space began to pay more and more attention to the interpretation of the semiotic meaning of space and landscape,and to find the power of culture from the space through the metaphorical meaning of space.The place culture is expressed by symbols.The place symbols are the essential parts of place identity.Under the background of globalization,informationization and modernization,place symbols have the important and significance role of place identity and place cultural identity.However,the formation and construction of place symbols are still relatively weak research fields.Under such background,the paper draws on humanistic geography,structural geography,semiotic theory and other related research to explore the construction of place symbols.Using qualitative research methods and through the combing and induction of local history,the paper study the construction of the place symbols of Fuzhou "Sanshan",Meizhou "Mazu",Jingdezhen "porcelain" from the perspective of the author and others.The research shows that the natural place symbol of Fuzhou “Sanshan” is constructed under the place people through place practice to "humanization" and through perceive the place to "romanticization",it belongs to the process of bottom-up construction of place natural symbols;The construction of place spiritual symbol of Meizhou "Mazu" is that place people use the belief of Mazu as a guide to carry out faith activities,tourism activities and shape the place characteristics of Mazu culture,so that people connect Meizhou with Mazu through practice and perception.People produce information texts in the process of practice and perception.With the spread of the text,people connect the Pazhou with Mazu through perception.It belongs to the top-down construction process of the place spiritual symbols;Taking the “porcelain” symbol of Jingdezhen as an example,the construction of place production symbols is under the natural and resource conditions of Jingdezhen.The place people practice local production such as porcelain production,trade and innovation to form symbolic meaning and gradually construct.Others have created symbolic meanings through the Jingdezhen porcelain trade,the diffusion and exchange of porcelain production processes,and the use of porcelain,and finally promoted the construction of place symbols.This place symbol belongs to the process of place production symbols spontaneously constructed along with the production,trade and use of commodities.Finally,the common process of three types of construction of place symbol are summarized.The construction of place symbol can be summarized as four aspects of interaction: locality,place practice,place perception and place symbolic meaning.Locality is the basis of people percepive symbols.Place practice and place perception make people connect with place and symbols.It is an important link for the construction of place symbols.Place symbolic meaning is that people produce rich symbols and meanings based on place practice and place perception.It is the “humanization” process of place symbols and promotes the construction of place symbols.The research shows that place symbols is constructed by people performing place practice and place perception and understanding the meaning of place symbols on the basis of the place characteristics of the symbol. |
