English Reading has long been regarded not only the basic ability and foundation of language learning,but also an important channel to acquire new knowledge.For junior high school students,English reading is the main way to learn English language and obtain information,it also plays a very important role in the process of English learning.The traditional teaching mode attaches great importance to the teaching of vocabulary and grammar,but the integrity of language is often neglected.Therefore,at present,the main task of English teaching is to innovate teaching methods and improve the quality of English teaching.This paper takes discourse analysis theory as the theoretical guidance and adheres to the integrity principle of Gestalt psychology,combining cohesion theory and context theory to analyze reading materials from both macro and micro aspects to explores how to use these theories to design English reading teaching activities and form new teaching methods to improve efficiency of teaching.Generally speaking,this paper mainly discusses the following two questions :1.The main barriers and problems in English reading comprehension among the students in grade 8 in our country,and what are the causes of these barriers and problems? 2.How to use the discourse analysis method to solve the problems and barriers in the reading process of the students in grade two in order to improve their reading ability?Based on the teaching of grade eight,this paper expounds the main reasons for the application of discourse analysis in English reading teaching according to the teaching practice.At the same time,through the questionnaire survey,it is learned that the problems and obstacles faced by the students of grade two in the process of reading mainly include vocabulary、syntax、 discourse 、genre 、 context and reading habit barriers.The emergence of these barriers are related to the lack of textual knowledge.Then from the perspective of practice,this paper provide some implementation strategies about discourse analysis in reading teaching: macro analysis-micro analysis-overall absorption.It also presents the process and steps of reading discourse teaching.Through validation of the theory and the teaching practice,the paper concluded that in the process of English reading teaching,guide students to apply discourse analysis theory consciously can not only make the students learn to understand the article,but also can help students to get the information from the perspective of macro and the specific context,context and lexical cohesive devices etc.to improve reading comprehension and communication skills.Applying discourse analysis to the teaching of English reading can not only provide theoretical guidance for the teaching of reading,but also can effectively improve the quality of English reading teaching,which is of great benefit to the cultivation of high-quality English talents.
