The Extraction Of The Basic-Level Person Nouns In The Modern Chinese And Its Application In Chinese Textbook

Based on the theory of basic level category,this paper adjusts and improves the previous standards of extracting basic-level words,and determines "gestalt","frequency","semantic","word form","acquisition order" and "derivative ability" as the extraction standards of basic-level person nouns.Taking A Thesaurus of Modern Chinese as the source of corpus,this paper extracts the basic-level person nouns by categorizing and assigning these nouns and with statistical analysis,and divides them into four levels according to the typicality from high to low.At last,the level vocabulary list of the basic-level person nouns in modern Chinese which can be used and referenced for teaching Chinese as a foreign language is obtained.New Practical Chinese Reader,a representative comprehensive textbook for TCSOL,is selected as the object of investigation on the application of the basic-level person nouns.Starting from two dimensions,first of all,this paper investigates the situation of the word collection and recurrence of the basic-level person nouns in different stages of the textbook,and makes a comparative analysis between them and non-basic-level nouns.And then,the paper classifies the basic-level person nouns,and investigates the situation of the word collection,the coverage and the recurrence of them.The results show that: in terms of the selection arrangement,the emphasis on basic-level nouns is generally higher than that on non-basic-level nouns;the number distribution of basic-level nouns is basically reasonable,but the cohesion at the intermediate stage is unbalanced;the scope of word selection is appropriate,but the distribution of the fourth-level words is inappropriate;the basic-level nouns generally have high recurrence times,and the textbook pays more attention to high-recurrence words,but the proportion of zero-recurrence words is still high;generally speaking,the recurrence interval of basic-level nouns is not ideal;the recurrence of basic-level nouns at the primary stage is valued,but the recurrence ofbasic-level nouns at the intermediate stage isn’t drawn enough attention;the recurrence of first-level nouns is also valued,but the recurrence of third-level nouns is obviously neglected.Based on the above investigation results,this paper puts forward some suggestions on the selection and arrangement of the basic-level person nouns from the aspects of word collection,presentation and repetition times,repetition interval,and so on.
