A Study Of The Absurdity Of Jose Salamago's Novels

José Saramago is a classic writer in the history of Portuguese literature in the 20 th century.It is also the only writer in Portugal who has won the Nobel Prize for Literature.He has a very important position in the history of Portugal and even western literature.Saramago lived in the 20 th and 21 st centuries where absurd literature prevailed.Since the 20 th century,absurdity has gradually become one of the important concepts in philosophy,literature,art and other fields,and it has become a survival experience for modern people.Saramago lived in such an era.Under the influence of this trend of thought,his works are rich in imagination and vivid allegorical,but also full of absurdity.This thesis takes some of the Chinese translation novels of Saramago as research objects,analyzes the absurdity of novel creation as a whole,and then explores the cause and significance of the absurdity of Saramago's novels.This article mainly includes three parts: introduction,main text and conclusion.The introduction mainly introduces the background,purpose and significance of this topic,the life and works of Saramago,expounds and organizes the current status of domestic and foreign research on Saramago's novels,and clarifies the absurd concepts.The absurdity in Ramago's novel is anomalous and summarizes the main content of each chapter.The text includes four chapters.The first is to analyze the absurdity of the characters in the novel from the alienation of the person's internal characteristics,the missing names of the external characteristics,the blurred image and the animalization;the second is to explore the absurdity of the plot structure of the novel from the absurd plot and the inconclusive ending;the third is that through analysis of the novel,the absurdity of Salamago's theme is manifested as anti-Eurocentrical political tendencies,a way of life escaping from modern society,and unique historical concepts.Fourth,after understanding the absurdity in the novel,further thinking about the cause of the absurdity of Saramago's novel and its practical significance.The conclusion concludes that Salamago reflects the anomalous world in absurd form,promotes people's awareness of absurdity,encourages people to bravely face real life and make changes.The purpose of this article is to provide some thoughts and supplements for the related research of Saramago's novels by studying the absurdity of Saramago's novels.
