American teacher Coco gave a lecture on “Mental Health Education” for students of grade 2019 in the “Parents Entering Classroom” activity of Qingdao Laoshan Yucai Middle School in November 2019.This paper is a report on the practice of Chinese English consecutive interpretation for this lecture, summarizing, evaluating and reflecting on the interpretation practice of the interpreter in this lecture. It focuses on the exertion of interpreter’s subjectivity when interpreting in the special form of classroom, and summarizes the particularity of the interpretation work in this form. The report first introduces the preparation work before interpreting, then introduces cases to analyze the interpreter’s subjectivity in the process of interpretation practice, and summarizes four problems in the process which are translationese, mistranslation and omission caused by listening load, too many filler words, and semantic deficiency. In view of the particularity of this interpretation practice, the report also summarizes the unexpected situations and analyzes the interpreter’s coping strategy.Through summarizing the whole interpretation practice process and analyzing the cases, this report believes that in this special form of the classroom, too many translation service objects increases the uncertainty in the interpreting process;pre-translation preparation requires to prepare all speakers, including the student audience;it needs to properly reflect the interpreter’s subjectivity to make some adjustment, and the interpreter should not only play the role of interpretation, but also play the role of coordination and communication;the interpreter should have a strong on-the-spot response ability to deal with various possible unexpected situations.
