The quite distinguished characteristics in language,format and function of the technical texts make its translating methods typical.The source text in this report is the specification of a newly-developed car,which is objective,accurate and strict in logic and contains amounts of information.As this manual is compiled for a newly-developed car,it requires the translator to have enough professional knowledge in related field and well translating skills.The source text mainly introduces the door system,body and body accessories of the car.To fully deliver the manual’s information and implement its functions,this report,based on the Skopos theory,concentrates on solving the practical problems in the process of translating the same types of texts through case study.It aims to output a translation of quality that can be understood by its readers,thus realizing bilingual transformation to the greatest degree.This report consists of five parts.The first part is a brief introduction of this translation task and it also expounds the significance of this project.The second part is about the translation process,which narrates the work the translator has done before,while and after the task.In the third part,there is a brief introduction of the Skopos theory,including an overview of the theory,a brief summary of its translation criterion and also the research situation in China.The fourth part is about the difficulties during the process of translation and specific translation methods under the guidance of the Skopos theory.The conclusion part is the last part of the report,which sumps up the findings and experience during completing this translation task.Besides,it also has some limitations that need to be improved.
