The Study On Zu Ting Shi Yuan

Zu Ting Shi Yuan which written by Shan Qing in the Song Dynasty is the earliest Buddhist dictionary work in China to study Zen quotations.The content of this book is mainly to annotate difficult sentences in the quotations of masters such as Yunmen Wenyan and Xuedou Chongxian.The annotated entries are about 2,400.The entries include: headings,analyzing glyphs,phonetic notation,Interpretations,citations and comment.Zu Ting Shi Yuan,as a dictionary of Buddhism,has important research value in linguistics.The main research content of this paper is to analyze the glyphs,phonology and difficult words in the content of Zu Ting Shi Yuan.In the commentary of Zhu Ting Shi Yuan,Shan Qing will use different terms for character analysis.In order to understand or read Zu Ting Shi Yuan in depth,we must understand the meaning and glyphs of the terms used by Shan Qing.In identifying and analyzing the glyphs,we will use the following methods to explore the linguistic value of Zu Ting Shi Yuan: The first is to examine the glyphs based on the phonetic notation of Zu Ting Shi Yuan;the second is to test the glyphs based on the Zen literature interpreted in Zu Ting Shi Yuan;the third is to analyze the glyphs of Zu Ting Shi Yuan based on other Chinese Buddhist texts.The phonological value of Zu Ting Shi Yuan is also worthy of further study.Most of the entries in Zu Ting Shi Yuan have pronunciation marks,and these methods of pronunciation marks are various,such as anti-cut phonetic method,straight sound method,chorus method,tone mark method,Sanskrit pronunciation and so on.This paper first collects and counts all the phonetic transcriptions in Zu Ting Shi Yuan,then classifies them into a corpus,and then analyzes the corpus.This article mainly uses the induction method,the contrast method,the phonetic-sense interconnection analysis method,and the internal evidence mutual proof method to analyze and study the phonological materials of Zu Ting Shi Yuan,so as to explore the phonetic rules of Zu Ting Shi Yuan.I hope to provide some valuable materials for the study of Chinese phonology in the early Song Dynasty.The study of difficult words in Zu Ting Shi Yuan is the key research part of this article.The work Zu Ting Shi Yuan contains some difficult words.These difficult words may be due to the long time and the long distance of space.So this article attempts to further explain these difficult words.Since ancient times,there have been many methods of interpreting words,including common physical training,sound training,righteous training,induction,comparison,and evidence.In this article,we will make full use of the latest theories and methods in exegetical studies,philology,and lexics to study the difficult annotations of the Zu Ting Shi Yuan.We make full use of the textual materials provided in Zu Ting Shi Yuan to explore its linguistic value and functions.This will not only help readers to read the quotations of Zen Buddhism explained in the Zu Ting Shi Yuan,but also help scholars to study the development and evolution of the Zen word system,and also provide richer corpora and examples for the study of modern Chinese characters and modern phonology.
