A Study Of Shen Quan's Flower And Bird Painting In Nanping School

Shen Quan was a flower and bird painter in the period of "KangQian prosperity" in the Qing Dynasty.His paintings were accurate in shape and colorful in color.In the development history of Chinese and Japanese painting,Shen Quan is a figure that can not be ignored.Although art is not first-class,his contribution in the exchange of Chinese and Japanese painting is first-class,which many painters cannot compare.He integrated Chinese traditional painting with western realistic painting,which had a realistic painting style that Japan did not have at that time,and formed a new "Nanping painting school",which had an important influence on the formation of Japanese Southern painting.At that time,Japan was in the Edo period(1603-1867),and implemented a strict policy of "locking the country".Because general Tokugawa guzong loved Chinese painting art,in 1731,he invited Shen Quan and his disciples to Nagasaki to teach traditional Chinese flower and bird painting techniques.Through three years of teaching in Japan,Shen Quan has formed "Nanping School of painting" in the continuous inheritance of his disciple Xiong Fei.They have created a large number of realistic flower and bird painting works,inherited the painting style of Shen Quan's realistic flower and bird painting,achieved remarkable results,and had an important impact on the formation of Southern School of painting in Japan.Shen Quan's influence on painting has spread all over China and Japan,and he is an important representative figure in promoting the art exchange of calligraphy and painting between China and Japan.Therefore,Shen Quan is regarded as "the first imported painter" by Japan.Shen Quan not only inherited the traditional painting techniques,but also formed his own unique painting appearance.On the basis of Huang Quan's sketching method of Five Dynasties,influenced by Lu Ji and other painters of Ming Dynasty,and absorbing the freehand brushwork of Ming and Qing painters and the techniques of hooking flowers and leaves,the flowers and birds are placed in the open natural landscape,neat and beautiful,and free from vulgarity.Before Shen Quan arrived in Japan,he inherited the style of Chinese traditional painting.After returning to Japan,his painting style was influenced by Western painting factors,which promoted the mutual influence and absorption of Chinese and Japanese painting.Shen Quan,one of the painters who had to be re recognized in the Qing Dynasty Palace Flower and bird painters,formed a style of flower and bird painting in the history of Chinese painting.This dissertation systematically discusses Shen Quan's life experience,research status at home and abroad,explores the artistic style and characteristics of Shen Quan's flower and bird painting,defines Shen Quan's artistic achievements,its positive role in the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese painting,as well as its artistic contribution and influence on later generations.
