Abstract/Summary:
Alienation refers to the alienation of an individual due to normal relationships, even being dominated and controlled, thereby causing the individual to have negative emotional experiences such as a sense of social isolation and uncontrollability.Middle school students are in adolescence with rapid physical and mental development, and are prone to negative emotional and behavioral problems such as alienation and communication conflicts.Studies have shown that individual alienation has a significant effect on emotional behavior problems. Most of the existing studies focus on the overall or average level of individual alienation and its impact on variables, but less on the individual. They study the potential categories and effects of alienation among middle school students. This study attempts to use the latent class analysis method to examine the potential class of alienation among middle school students, and the differences in emotional behavior among middle school students with different potential categories of alienation. To this end, this study investigated the alienation and demographic background variables of 601 students(317 males,284 females, ages 13-18)in two middle schools in Anhui, and explored the potential class and emotional behaviors of middle school students. At the same time,in order to further verify the classification of the potential class of alienation, this study also selected 34 “difficulty-adapted” middle school students(aged 14 to 16)to conduct an alienation intervention study.Participants were randomly divided into two groups, the intervention group and the control group. The intervention group received weekly intervention for relief of alienation for eight weeks. The control group did not perform any intervention. The results show:(1)The score of loneliness of girls is significantly higher than that of boys, and the score of natural alienation is significantly lower than that of boys;high school students score significantly higher in dimensions of alienation than junior high school students;left-behind middle school students score significantly higher in dimensionsof alienation than non-left-behind middle school students.(2)Analysis of the potential class of alienation among middle school students shows that the potential types of alienation can be divided into three categories: good alienation, low alienation, and difficult alienation.(3)Differential analysis of emotional behavior problems in different potential class of alienation of middle school students shows that the scores of SDQ in the well-adapted middle school students are significantly lower than the scores of the low-adapted and evacuated middle-school students, and their prosocial behavior scores are significantly higher. For alienation of low-adapted and difficult-adapted middle school students.(4)Psychological intervention research of middle school students with difficulty in alienation and adaptation showed that the middle school students in the control group had no significant difference in pre-and post-intervention scores, and the middle school students in the intervention group had significantly reduced alienation and emotional behavior problems. The decrease is manifested in the significant increase in the prosocial behavior of middle school students, and the overall score of overall psychological difficulty(SDQ)is significantly reduced.
