Object: To explore the characteristics and influencing factors of the behavior problem of primary and middle school students in some area of Hubei province .Methods: Two thousand, three hundred and fifty eight students were surveyed by using stratified cluster sampling from 5 areas (Wuhan, huangshi,Xiaogan, Xiantao, yunyang)of Hubei province. Mental problems rating scales, such as Child Behavior Checklist (CBCl), and Eysenck personality questionnaire (EPQ) and family environment scales (FES-CV) were used to appraisal mental problems status and family environment quality. The general descriptive analysis,χ2 test, T test, variance analysis, partial correlation analysis, logistic regression analysis and so on were use to analyze and compare primary and middle school students'behavior problems and influence factors in different areas of Hubei province.Result:1 The incidences of mental behavior problems about primary and middle school studentsTwo thousand , two hundred and forty one students were effective(effective reply rate was 95.04%),and 542 children with behavior problem were identified and the prevalence of behavior problem was 24.19%. The prevalence of mental behavior problem showed significant difference in gender, age and region .2 Analysis on the influence factors of mental behavior problems in children①A nalysis on the general stateThe incidences of children's behavior problems differed significantly in parents' culture level, occupation, parents'education attitude and expectation to children, family economy, interpersonal relationship, residence area atmosphere and school atmosphere (P<0.05).②Analysis on the family enviroment qualityThe correlation analysis indicates that children's behavior problem negative relative obviously with cohesion, intellectual-cultural, entertainment and positive relative obviously with conflict③Analysis on the personalityThe results showed that male students in P scores of EPQ were higher than female students, but lower in E and L scores significantly. The students who have behavior problems had higher scores of psychoticism(P), neuroticism(N) and extraversion(E) ,and lower scores of lie(L) than that of normal students , and there were siginifcant differences in scores of psychoticism and neuroticism (P<0.001).④Conditional Logistic stepwise regression analysisConditional Logistic stepwise regression analysis indicated that the major protective factors for behavior problems in children were the parents'culture, higher cohesion of FES-CV,but poor classmate relationship, psychoticism, neuroticism were risk factors.ConclusionParents'culture level, occupation parents'expectation to children, rearing mode of children, interpersonal relationship, quality of family environment (such as cohesion, conflict, intellectual-cultural, entertainment)and psychoticism, neuroticism are social psychological factors which influence behavior problems in children. To reduce the prevalence of behavioral problems of children and promote students'psychological development healthily, the above should be considered in education.
