The objective of English course is to develop students' key competences which is proposed by English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School issued in 2017.The key competences are to cultivate learners' language competence,enhance learners' thinking ability,and increase their learning competence which are also the objectives of English course in each grade at primary school.English teachers in primary school teach for the purpose that students can gain language knowledge and improve language ability.Moreover,the teachers help students to study cultural experience and develop students' thinking quality.Through English learning,students will form positive emotion,attitude,value,and possess essential characteristics and crucial ability,which are conducive to the achievement of development objectives in English subject.Therefore,teachers need to establish the awareness of English subject key competence,make teaching designs that revolve around them,and organize the teaching activities well in order to prompt teaching efficiency.Effective teaching means that teachers stimulate,maintain and prompt students' learning by adopting various manners and ways in teaching activities with the least dedication of time and energy in order to realize the specific teaching objectives,obtain teaching effect as much as possible and achieve the expected teaching effect relatively.Effective teaching behaviors in the classroom are as follows: effective classroom management,pleasant classroom atmosphere,logical teaching,the teaching of variety,the orientation of tasks,the guidance of students in the process of education and the guarantee of students' success rate.With the guidance of English subject key competences,English teachers in primary school should change their teaching concepts,adjust teaching ways and make effective teaching designs.There still exist inefficient and ineffective teaching behaviors in primary school.For example,the design of classroom activities lacks real situations and communication.Some teachers just pay attention to language objectives and neglect the goals in subject and content.Besides,there is little humanity in the teachers' teaching.The teaching contents do not show the level of thinking and the logic of procedures.Within this kind of background,this paper aims at discussing about effective teaching of primary school English guided by English subject key competences in order to analyze the situation of English teachers' teaching behaviors in primary school by research,conclude teaching behaviors which effective English teachers should possess and the implications on effective teaching of primary school English.With the methods of the questionnaire,interview and classroom observation,the author investigates English teacher's behaviors of effective teaching in the primary school in Lai Yang and observes their classroom teaching.By conducting this research,the author seeks to figure out three questions.First,what are the inefficient teaching behaviors in the English teaching of primary school? Second,what are the teachers' effective teaching behaviors in the English teaching of primary school? Third,what are the strategies on effective teaching of primary school English guided by subject key competences? According to this research,the results reveal the following phenomenon.Teachers' awareness of subject key competences is weak.Some teachers don't pay attention to the setting of the situation,the development of students' thinking quality and the creation of a pleasant atmosphere.Additionally,seldom of them do teaching reflections and so on.Based on the research findings,the author concludes specific behaviors of classroom effective teaching in primary school: effective expression behavior,effective questioning behavior,effective discussion behavior,effective listening behavior,effective guidance behavior,effective presentation behavior,effective feedback behavior,effective evaluation behavior and effective management behavior from the perspectives of teaching concepts,teaching design and preparation,teaching feedback and teaching management,combined with English subject key competences,which provides references and suggestions for English teachers in primary school.
