A Translation Report On Welding Process And Fixture

With the rapid development of Chinese technology,“made in China” has been one of the most recognizable labels in the world.Frequent communication and cooperation between countries benefited from economic globalization.Many Chinese enterprises implement the strategy of “going global”,especially in domestic vehicle industry.The rise of domestic vehicle attracts the whole world's attention.The translation of technical text as the carrier plays an important role in frequent communication.The study object of the report is from a translation program called Welding Process and Fixture in a domestic vehicle company.The report aims at analyzing the translation cases in the translation task based on semiotics theory to conclude some useful translation methods and skills in mechanical or welding translation and increase readability of translation.The report also further proves the feasibility of semiotics theory in technical translation.The study object of the report belongs to technical translation which is equipped with high proficiency.There are some engineering and welding knowledge in Welding Process and Fixture.The report uses parallel text research method,literature research method and case analysis method.The report analyzes the translation cases from the aspect of designative meaning,linguistic meaning and pragmatic meaning in Morris' semiotics theory to conclude appropriate translation methods based on the equivalence of the three levels.The report can be divided into five parts.The first part is an introduction of translation project;the second part is the description of the whole translation process;the third part is a description and summary of semiotics theory;the forth part is case study of translation project under the direction of semiotics theory and the last part is the summary of translation project report.In a word,the report indicates that semiotics not only can be applied to literary translation but also play a guiding role in technical translation.
