The main objective of this study was to examine the association between fear of missing out(fomo),excessive use of Wechat(EUW)and life satisfaction of the candidates.The features of fomo and EUW was descriped and an short-term internet-delivered cognitive behavior therapy(ICBT)intervention for fomo was also examined.In study 1,the excessive use of Wechat Scale(EUWS)was developed.Initial questionare was constructed and conducted to 540 individuals randomly recruited.Item analysis and factor analysis came to consequence that 22 items reflecting 4 elements(daily conflict,escapism,dependency,and guilty)was confirmed.The satisfactory reliability and validity was confirmed.Then the 339 candidates were assessed with excessive use of Wechat Scale(EUWS)and fear of missing out Scale(fomos)to explore the demographic characteristics.In study 2,the EUWS and fomos as well as satisfaction with life Scale(SWLS)were conducted to the candidates to explore the relationship of fomo,EUW and life satisfaction.In study 3,an intervention was designed and implemented to 15 candidates with high fomos score and the effect of the intervention was discussed.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The developed EUWS was proved to has satisfactory validity and reliability,and could be used to measure the excessive use of Wechat.(2)The severity of the fomo and EUW of the candidates were of intermediate level,and the severity EUW was aggravating.(3)There was significant difference of EUW in gender and age.Significant difference of fomo in age and intimate relationship was also discovered.(4)Fomo had significant correlation with EUW and Wechat moment use intensity.Fomo can subjectively predict EUW.(5)Fomo and EUW both negatively correculate with life satisfaction,and EUW played a mediating role in fome and life satisfaction.(6)The short-term self helped ICBT intervention was effective in alleviating fomo and according affected the EUW and life satisfaction. |
