Social media has indeed brought us a lot of convenience, such as the ability to communicate with people thousands of miles away in real time,to share their life experiences and feelings, and to get all kinds of information. All these make our social network expand, and at the same time promote the connection and interaction between people, making up for the interpersonal network in real life.Social media brings convenience to adolescents in all aspects but also threatens their psychological health, excessive passive social media use will weaken people’s psychological energy, increase adolescents’ fear of missing out, lead them to pay more attention to negative emotions, increasing the probability of ruminative thinking, and ultimately leading to more depression.Students in secondary vocational schools are a special group of students who receive vocational skills and knowledge while also taking on the mission of meeting the demand for skilled personnel in various industries in society. With the continuous development of secondary vocational education, the scale of this group is gradually growing, but at the same time, some psychological problems have emerged, which need to be widely concerned and paid attention to.Because the existence of these problems will not only negatively affect the personal psychological health of secondary school students, but also adversely affect their future career development, which in turn will affect the development and stability of the whole society. Therefore,we need to pay attention to the psychological problems of secondary school students and provide them with effective help and support,so that they can better adapt to their career development and social environment.Based on this, this study focuses on the relationship between passive social media use and depression among secondary school students. The relationship between passive social media use, depression, fear of missing out and ruminative thinking of 1146 secondary school students in four secondary vocational schools in Jinan was investigated and analyzed by using the Passive Social Media Use Questionnaire(PSNSUQ),Fear of Missing Out Scale,Center for Streaming Depression Scale(CES-D)and Ruminative Thinking Scale, and the data were analyzed by SPSS statistical analysis, the study concluded the following:(1)Passive social media use behavior positively predicted depressive state of secondary school students;(2)Fear of missing out plays a mediating role between passive social media use and depressive state of secondary school students;(3)Ruminative thinking mediates the relationship between passive social media use and depressive states of secondary school students;(4)Fear of missing out and ruminative thinking play a chain mediating role between passive social media use and depressive states of secondary school students. |
