The network has become an important part of people's daily life,especially for young people is even more so,according to the China Internet Network Information Center(2016)released information,as of December 2015,Chinese young Internet users reached 287 million,accounting for 85.3% of the total population Chinese youth body,social networking has become one of the increasingly popular network application WeChat,QQ space,the circle of friends is one of the representatives,due to the characteristics of social networking sites(such as mobility,timeliness and convenience),it has become an important way social communication path for youth.Objective: To explore the relationship between social networking use intensity,upward social comparison,self-esteem and life satisfaction in college students,and explore the underlying mechanism between them.Methods: 1149 college students were surveyed by the social networking use intensity scale,upward social comparison scale,self esteem scale(SES)and life satisfaction scale(CSLSS)from Shandong province.Results: 1.Social networking use intensity was positively significant associated with upward social comparison,self-esteem and life satisfaction and its dimensions;upward social comparison was positively significant associated with life satisfaction and its dimensions,however,upward social comparison was negatively significant associated with self-esteem;self-esteem was positively significant associated with objective satisfaction and the total score of life satisfaction;subjective satisfaction and objective satisfaction were positively significant associated with its total score.2.Social networking use intensity could affect life satisfaction via the mediating role of self esteem.3.Social networking use intensity could affect life satisfaction via the mediating role of self esteem and upward social comparison.Conclusion: Self esteem plays a mediating role in the association between college students' social networking use intensity and life satisfaction;upward social comparison and self esteem plays a mediating role in the association between college students' social networking use intensity and life satisfaction.
