The deepening of the world economic globalization and the rapid development of science and technology and communication have made the exchanges between countries and regions closer,thus promoting the collision and exchange between different cultures and forming a pattern of coexistence of diverse cultures.In this multi-cultural context,it is urgent to carry out in-depth research on the teaching of idioms,a special word with Chinese cultural characteristics,to improve the teaching quality,and to take idioms as the carrier to give full play to the inheritance and dissemination function of Chinese culture in the field of international Chinese teaching.Through a large number of literature reading,classroom observation and questionnaire survey,this paper summarizes the research status and achievements of idiom teaching,and has a comprehensive understanding of the situation of idiom learning in Chinese classroom.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the paper is divided into four parts.First,the relationship between idiom teaching and multiculturalism.This part includes the discussion of the basic contents of multi-culture and idiom teaching and the influence of multi-culture on idiom teaching.Secondly,taking the Chinese language and culture college of huaqiao university as an example,this paper investigates and analyzes the students' learning of idioms.Then,based on the results of the investigation and analysis,this paper summarizes the problems existing in the idiom teaching of foreign students under the current multicultural background from three aspects: teachers,textbooks and courses.Finally,in view of the problems summarized above,the author puts forward some teaching Suggestions based on the theory of multicultural education.In order to give some enlightenment to the idiom teaching in the future.Through investigation and research,it is found that in the teaching of idioms under the multicultural background,teachers should first change their role,become a multi-cultural understanding,and improve the ability of in-depth cultural interpretation.At the same time,it is necessary to create a multicultural educational environment in the classroom.In terms of teaching materials,it is necessary to speed up the compilation of special idiom teaching materials and highlight cultural differences in teaching materials.At the same time,we should make use of diversified teaching forms to enhance the interest of idiom teaching,and use modern educational technology to create situations to establish a diversified idiom curriculum model.The innovation of this paper is to discuss the problems in the Chinese language teaching for foreign students from the perspective of multicultural theory.The paper also puts forward some teaching Suggestions on these problems by using the theory of multicultural education.However,due to the weak grasp of relevant theories and the limitation of objective reasons,the investigation and research can only be carried out in the overseas students group of huaqiao university.The conclusions and Suggestions obtained may be somewhat weak in terms of universality,and it is hoped that they can be further improved in the future research.
