Beginning teachers are at the initial stage of professional competence growth.Teachers are easiest to be shaped in this stage,which is called " the internal critical period" of their professional competence growth.It can be seen that the growth of teachers' professional competence in the initial stage deeply affects their future.Therefore,it's important for us to the cultivation of the professional competence of beginning teachers.With the continuous innovation of English curriculum in basic education in China,English teachers also face various challenges in teaching,which requires English teachers,especially the beginning English teachers,to constantly improve their own professional competence in teaching and shoulder the mission of English curriculum innovation.The thesis adopts narrative methodology.Based on the extensive literature collection,the thesis chooses A,B and C as the beginning English teachers in primary schools.Through a large number of interviews and teaching record,the thesis summed up that teacher A takes teaching design as a breach and teacher B consider the team strength as a breakthrough and teacher C is established in the teaching reflection in order to promote the overall growth of their own professional ability from the description and reorganization of teaching practice.What's more,the thesis firms learning from four aspects to classify professional ability growth characteristics,which takes the idea of student-oriented education,classroom-based English Language teaching practice,continuous learning and reflection and focusing on English community mutual help intoaccount.And it attributes the professional ability growth to two reasons that contains internal demands of their own growth and external multi-force support.In addition,the thesis summarizes the suggestions of strengthening the theoretical study of English subject,strengthening the professional teaching reflection,constructing the force English learning community and widening the teacher's growth channel,so as to promote the sustainable growth of the professional ability of the beginning English teacher in primary school.
